This is not an open forum. Nothing appears on the site until a human reads it with care. You can also keep it private — sometimes saying it is enough.

Why share?

Every story on The Estate started with something real: something someone noticed, carried or finally said out loud. Writing it down can help you see it more clearly. And sometimes, with your permission and your name taken out, a story helps a neighbour you’ll never meet feel less alone.

Not sure where to start?

Pick one of these and write for five minutes. Don’t worry about making it good.

  • A time someone noticed you when you thought nobody would.
  • The moment you stopped saying “I’m alright” and told the truth.
  • A small kindness that travelled further than anyone expected. Your Ripple.
  • A road, a place or a date you still take the long way round.
  • The person on your street who is always there, and what they don’t know they did for you.
  • A time you said no, kindly, and the world didn’t end.

House rules

  • Kindness first — for yourself and for anyone you write about.
  • No real names of other people. Use initials or leave them out.
  • No hate, threats, or content meant to harm.
  • We moderate everything. We may edit lightly for clarity or decline to publish.

Moderation note: a person reads every submission. We do not offer crisis support by email. If you need help now, use the numbers below.

What happens to your story

  1. A person reads it. Not an algorithm. Every story is read carefully by a human.
  2. Private means private. If you ticked “keep it private”, it is never published.
  3. Publishing only with permission. If you offered it, we may publish it anonymously, lightly edited for clarity, with names and identifying details removed.
  4. No crisis support by email. If you need help now, the numbers below are free and confidential.

Maybe your story is somebody else’s too.
